UC: Action Execution

use case Legal texts do not describe a single real world case, but a collection of real world cases. Therefore a direct encoding of the requirement closely to the legal text using RRMV reflects this broad universal perspective of the legal text.

In this use case the exection of real world instances of requirements are explored.

use case scenario One approach is to explore a top-down materialisation approach. As methodology one can take inspiration from FRBR (Work/Expression/Manifestation/Item) where the work contains the most abstract conceptual description and the Item an very specific individual real world entity.

The legal text usually makes abstraction of two elements: the involved agents and the temporal moments the actions have to be performed.

Although the both aspects could be concretized independently the easier route is to first detail the temporal aspect followed by the involved agents. This is because the role and existance of agents is also bound by the temporal aspect (e.g. being a member of the EU).

To illustrate this (in words):

  • (work) yearly reporting of all greenhouse gas emissions within EU MSs
  • (Expression)
    • the 2021 report of all greenhouse gas emissions within EU MSs
    • the 2022 report of all greenhouse gas emissions within EU MSs
    • ...
  • (Manifestation)
    • the 2021 report of all greenhouse gas emissions within Belgium
    • the 2021 report of all greenhouse gas emissions within Great Britain
    • ...
    • the 2022 report of all greenhouse gas emissions within Belgium
    • ...
