NUTS code to obtain the currency code

Rule Definition

In each procedure where the currency code is not provided or it is not valid, the NUTS code is used to infer the currency code.

Additional Information

Rule elaboration

In each procedure where the currency code is not provided or it is not valid, the NUTS code is used to obtain the corresponding country through the NAL “Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS).” Once the country has been identified, the currency code associated with that country is obtained through the NAL “Currency.”

When the currency code is not provided or it is not valid but can be inferred from the NUTS code according to this rule, both the original currency code value (if any) and the inferred currency code are stored.
